As we enter fall, many of us are beginning to think about harvesting the abundance we’ve nurtured during the summer. Whether that’s collecting the tomatoes in your garden, cooking your favorite soup as the weather cools down, or gathering with family and friends, abundance and generosity are all around us.
The concept of abundance is a guiding value for GiveMN as an organization, too. We are guided to operate from abundance, not scarcity, in believing that philanthropy is not a zero-sum game, and that our resources are best invested in ideas that “grow the giving pie” and bring more people to the philanthropic table.
We took note recently when Erika Murcia wrote an essay on the blog for Community Centric Fundraising titled “Returning to Zero: Reclaiming the Poetics of Mobilizing Money from Narratives of Abundance.” In the essay, Erika shares her perspectives on money through her own identities and lived experiences in a beautiful way. It helped expand our perspectives and hope it will for you, too!
