In almost every corner of the world, the Thursday before Thanksgiving is a typical day—business as usual. And yet, here in Minnesota, something special happens every November—Give to the Max Day.
Here, we stop what we’re doing and come together to support the causes that make our state a great place to call home. Here, we ignite generosity and grow giving—together.
For 24 hours, we celebrated the power of possibility and generosity during our annual giving holiday, Give to the Max. In my time as executive director of GiveMN, I have seen nine Give to the Max Days grow and evolve. And every year, without fail, I am blown away by what we can accomplish when we come together to support causes across the state.
We often frame the impact of GTMD in terms of dollars raised and donations made: this year, $34.2 million was raised for 6,615 causes. And while this generosity is absolutely worth celebrating, today my gratitude is all for you: the leaders and volunteers who power our nonprofit sector. You are the problem-solvers and storytellers who ran thousands of smart, meaningful and relevant campaigns this GTMD. Today, fundraisers, all of my gratitude is directed to—and deserved by—you. You did this, and I’m grateful for that and for you.

We often say that GTMD is a testament to the power of generosity realized $10, $50, and $100 at a time. Those dollars translate to impact beyond our wildest dreams. What an incredible gift you give to all of us in the days, weeks, and months, following Minnesota’s most generous day.
On behalf of the GiveMN Green Team and everyone who will benefit from your work in the coming year, we are so grateful you showed up for GTMD: this year, last year, and in the years to come. You make Minnesota a great place to call home. And for that, and for all you do, I send my heartfelt appreciation.
