Women’s Foundation of Minnesota launches statewide giving day that centers women, girls, and gender-expansive people
When it was founded 40 years ago, the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota (WFM) was the first community foundation in the nation dedicated to gender equity. Now, during a milestone anniversary year, they’ll be the first to hold a statewide giving day to support causes that center women, girls, and gender-expansive people—and GiveMN is proud to be their partner in this campaign.
WFM’s first-ever Feminist Giving Day will take place on Thursday, May 9, on GiveMN.org. The goals of this year’s campaign are to bring awareness to research showing that less than 2% of nationwide philanthropic funding goes to organizations centering women and girls, and to engage donors across Minnesota to help change that statistic by giving generously and inviting their networks to do the same.
Women’s Foundation of Minnesota supports hundreds of causes that center women, girls and gender-expansive people through their grantmaking and philanthropic investments. Gifts during Feminist Giving Day will help impact these organizations as well as increase WFM’s ability to support more causes in the future.
GiveMN is serving as WFM’s platform partner and advisor for this inaugural event. As part of our mission pursuit, we shine a light on funding disparities in the nonprofit sector to educate and inspire generous donors to help close those funding gaps.
This year’s campaign will open May 1 and continue through Feminist Giving Day on May 9. We’ll be helping to amplify the campaign and engage donors during that time. Stay tuned!
