Feminist Giving Day imageThe Women’s Foundation of Minnesota (WFM) celebrated the inaugural Feminist Giving Day on Thursday, May 9, in partnership with GiveMN—and today, we’re celebrating those who raised their hand to join the movement and generously gave $425,000 (and counting) as part of the campaign’s first year.

We’re so thankful for your support in making this campaign successful! Thank you for trying something new with us—showing up, following along, spreading the word, and taking a first step toward eliminating this gender-based funding disparity with us.

This first-of-its-kind statewide giving day for women and girls+ started as an idea just last year after WFM saw new data highlighting that less than 2% of all philanthropy each year supports causes that center women and girls. Through conversations with GiveMN, we built a partnership to serve as their campaign advisors and technology partners and amplifiers for this event.

For the GiveMN team, this partnership was a natural fit, driven by our organization’s values of operating from abundance, connection to community, equity in action, and courage to try. We believe in growing the giving pie, not just re-slicing it. We highlight funding disparities and community needs because we believe generosity is a powerful way to put our shared values into action. And people from Minnesota (and beyond) responded, nearly meeting the aspirational $500,000 goal set by WFM for the inaugural year of this campaign.

We’ll continue to serve as your partner in generosity, highlighting opportunities to support the good work taking place every day in communities all across our state. We hope that as you see causes or campaigns that align with your values, you’ll expand your circle of generosity to help bring this good work to life.

On behalf of the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota and the thousands of other causes you support each year on GiveMN.org, thank you for helping power their good work.
