A quick guide to nonprofits awaiting you at the 2023 Minnesota State Fair
August is the time for one of our state’s marquee events as the Minnesota State Fair opens its gates to us all from August 24-September 4! During a time when millions of us come together to celebrate all that Minnesota has to offer, the fair helps us appreciate foods native to our region, recognize farmers and other individuals who keep our agricultural industry strong, highlight the arts (including the seed and butter variety), and so much more.
To help you celebrate the Great Minnesota Get-Together, GiveMN is also providing you with ideas for finding your favorite nonprofits and schools at the Fair. Read on to learn more about ways to connect with hundreds of organizations helping enhance your State Fair visit this year!
Your guide to nonprofits at this year's fair
As you’re walking around with your favorite delicacy-on-a-stick, keep an eye open for all of the nonprofits at the fair to make your experience more enjoyable! Whether they’re in the Education Building or the Cattle Barn, your favorite causes are all around you! Consider visiting the following places to find causes that are meaningful to you:
-
Agriculture Horticulture Building - Not only can you taste the newest hybrid apple and view floral arrangements, you can also learn about various organizations committed to keeping Minnesota’s agricultural and horticultural industries strong.
- Cattle Barn, Warner Coliseum, Dairy Building, Horse Barn, and Sheep & Poultry - Whether you’re watching a competition in the Coliseum or feeding the goats, keep an eye out for organizations like 4-H and Future Farmers of America, too!
- Eco Experience Progress Center - Learn about the diverse ecosystem of Minnesota and keep an eye out for organizations committed to sustainability efforts!
- Education Building - Many schools and colleges are also nonprofits! Visit the education building to learn more about various community organizations and how you can support the lifelong journey of learning.
- History and Heritage Center - While learning about the history of Minnesota, you can also learn about the history of the State Fair and support the Minnesota State Fair Foundation, the nonprofit charged with preserving the historic fairgrounds and helping plan and organize much of the programming we enjoy each year.
- And more! The Minnesota State Fairgrounds covers 322 acres meaning there’s plenty of room for your favorite nonprofits and schools to showcase their work. While you balance your bucket of Sweet Martha’s Cookies or share your cheese curds with friends, we hope you’ll be on the lookout for your favorite causes, too!
On behalf of the GiveMN team, we wish you a happy and safe fair season…and end of summer!
