Coach Cat: 4 Tips for Fundraising Beyond GTMD and into the New Year

Heading (3)-1As we transition from Give to the Max season to year-end, a question I’ve been hearing a lot is: can we ask our donors for support again before the end of the year? My short answer is yes!

My longer answer is these four tips that I encourage you to keep in mind as you transition from GTMD to calendar year-end fundraising:

1. Give to the Max Day is a kickoff to year-end fundraising

Rather than seeing year-end fundraising as a totally separate event, remember that Give to the Max Day is the kickoff to the end-of-year giving season. Now is the time to set the stage for what needs to be accomplished by December 31st and provide your supporters with an opportunity to join you! This month is key – 26% of all online revenue comes in December.

2. Donor fatigue is a myth

In our surveys of Give to the Max Day donors, around 80% tell us they like how often organizations ask them for support. People are excited to support you!

3. Before you ask again, say thank you

In this busy time of year, make sure to remember the donor cycle – don’t forget to thank your donors before asking again! Make sure donors know the impact of their gifts and that they’re a part of your community. Check out our resources page for GiveMN's Guide to Stewardship to  learn more.

4. Don’t forget to celebrate!

Make sure to build in time to reflect on all you and your community have accomplished together this year – invite your donors to join you in this celebration!
